L Satya Srinivas Takes Helm of GeM as Interim CEO

 

L Satya Srinivas named the Government e Marketplace (GeM) interim CEO GeM after P K Singh was transferred to the ministry of renewable energy, the current Additional Secretary of the Department of Commerce. Having been established in 2016, GeM was established to enable government departments to deal with their online purchasing needs.

The appointment of L Satya Srinivas, Additional Secretary of the Department of Commerce, as the CEO of Government e Marketplace (GeM) which is a public procurement portal has been entrusted. His hiring happens while P K Singh, the former CEO of the company, was transferred to the ministry of renewable energy.

Srinivas an officer of the Indian Revenue Service of the 1991 batch of Customs & Indirect Taxes has been entrusted with the task of driving the GeM forward in the future. It was through social media that an announcement about his role was made.

GeM started its operation on 9 ^{th} August 2016, with the design objective of providing an efficient and easy online procurement platform for government departments. But it is still heavily used by ministries and departments within the central government who are involved in procurement.
